This addition and renovation program was developed in response to the congregation's desire to remain on their existing property. They wished to utilize their existing sanctuary and also to make significant changes in the size and diversity of their church school programs. The project included conversions of existing classrooms into a fellowship lobby; the conversions of space on the second floor into a library and senior adult department; and the conversion of the third floor into a young adult department. The new construction included the development of twenty-nine new classrooms, a resource area, and a kitchen. The site development provided 49 new parking spaces, a new covered entrance canopy and a courtyard/playground area. Attention was paid to the need to tie the existing facade and church architecture into the new addition. The effort was measured as a success
by the Masonry Institute of Tennessee, which recognized the building as
an Award of Merit winner. |
