Located on a 67-acre site on the banks of
the East Fork of the Little Pigeon River, the new campus will ultimately
have over 200,000 square feet of classroom space to service a student
population in excess of 2,000. The first phase building is intended to
be the central hub of the growing campus. The college's close cooperation with the
resort industry of Sevier County is reflected by the inclusion of unique
spaces for instruction in areas of interest to tourist-related business,
including hotel/motel resort management and culinary arts/restaurant management.
A further development of the concept of citizen service is the ground
floor community service computer lab, which will be available to the general
population of Sevier County, providing both instruction and active individual
use. The architecture of the building is an expression
of the traditional heritage and history of the county. It is sited to
view both the river and the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains. The
two-story lobby and library balconies enhance the sense of permanence
that characterizes the area and the college's relationship with Sevier
County. |
