The Walters State Community College Library
was designed to serve as an anchor for the north end of the campus. The
entire facility was designed with the intent of providing an open, spacious
atmosphere while maintaining the security necessary for a building of
this type.
The two-story lobby provides vistas of most of the building, and terraced
reading areas provide separation for private functions. Raised floors
are provided in much of the facility to allow flexibility in accommodating
communications, data, computer, and audio-visual technologies. Special
care was taken to keep all "noise producing" areas enclosed
and acoustically treated. Community Tectonics has served as Walters
State's architect for several decades and has designed numerous facilities
at the Morristown and Sevierville campuses.
